Managing Address List(s)

You can maintain several address lists each containing a different set of email contacts. When sending an email you will need to choose one address list to which the message will be sent.

You begin by clicking the option 'Address List(s)' from the menu bar above. From that page you will be able to create a new address list or edit an existing address list.

Importing an Address List

If you already have a list of email contacts on your computer or in an email service such as Microsoft Hotmail you are able to import these contacts into FlowMail by clicking the 'Import Address List' button from the Address List(s) page. However you must carefully follow the directions to EXPORT the email contacts from your current email client BEFORE you can import it into FlowMail.

The procedure to export your contacts will be different depending on what email program you currently have your contacts in. If you go to begin importing your contacts, you will find a help menu with specific instructions for several popular email clients. If your email client is not listed there, then you will have to contact your IT professional who setup your email client, or your software documentation to find out how you can export your contacts to a "comma seperated values (CSV)" file.

Exporting an Address List

If you are on the Address List(s) page, you will notice an option next to each Address List to export the list. This function is important if you wish to backup your contacts for safe-keeping or if you wish to transfer your contacts into another email program like Microsoft Outlook.

When you export an address list it will prompt you to save a "csv" (comma separated values) file to your computer. This is a standards-compliant format for storing addresses and it is compatible with most email programs.

For specific instructions on what to do with this csv file after you have saved it to your computer, you will have to consult your IT professional or for instructions to import it into your favorite mail client you can consult the documentation for that software.

If you wish to import this csv file back into FlowMail at a later time, then you can simply go to the Address List(s) page and use the 'Import Address List' function. The procedure is the same as if you were importing an address list from any other source.
